What is a will?

A Will is a way of expressing your wishes regarding the division of your assets in the event of your death.

Should I have a Will?

Yes – everyone should have a will

What happens if I die without making a Will?

You are deemed to have died intestate; this means that the management of your estate will be carried out by an administrator appointed by the courts.

What is probate?

A process that the administrators/executors of your Will the right to deal with your assets and property. The paperwork acts as proof that your executors have the authority they need to administer your estate.

What is a trust?

When a person transfers assets to a trustee (either while alive or in a will) for the benefit of a third party, eg. To another relation for the benefit of children under 18.

What is Conveyancing?

The aspect of law which deals with the legal aspects of transferring property from one party to another, includes the examination of documents and preparing of deeds.

What is separation?

Separation is the first formal step taken after a marriage break-up. Both parties are living apart but are not free to re-marry.

What is divorce?

When a marriage is over and all legal work is done, both parties are free to re-marry.

What is Legal Aid?

If you are on a low income you may be entitled to assistance towards your legal bills.
